Blizzard in DC
Last weekend, the DC area got dumped on. We received over 22 inches of snow. And while most stayed inside for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I took the opportunity to do something fun. At least I considered what I did to be fun. I live on a hill in Virginia, the highest point in the surrounding area I believe. Right next to my place is a fairly steep street. So, I took my snowboard out and went for a run down that street. I figured there would be just enough snow to cover the street but not enough where it would be packed. The street would also be shoveled by the trucks by would still be slippery enough for a sled or snowboard.
I strapped myself in tried to nudged myself forward to get momentum. Boy, I wished I had waxed my board before trying this. I had to get a push from my friend to get it moving. In the end, it turned out to be an ok success. I didn’t go as fast as I would like but I did officially snowboarded down a city street.
